Austest Laboratories Sydney has now added altitude testing to our scope of accredited testing services.  This testing is necessary for all avionics and other equipment installed on board military and civilian aircrafts and helicopters. However, it is also often used for other goods which get transported by air.

Accredited standards include:

  • MIL-STD-810D method 500.2 Low Pressure (Altitude),
  • MIL-STD-810G: method 500.5 Low Pressure (Altitude) and
  • IEC/EN 60068-2-13 Low Air Pressure.

The tests we can carry out include:

  1.  Constant altitude – simulating normal take off, level flight at cruise altitude and landing
  2. Rapid decompression – simulating failures of pressurisation equipment, light hull damage or emergency decent
  3. Explosive decompression – simulating major structural failures of the aircraft

Our largest chamber is Ø900 x 1800 mm and we can simulate altitudes from 0 to 55,000 ft.
