C-Tick EMC emission reports for Australia, CE reports not always acceptable
The ACMA list a number of different standards that are acceptable under the EMC unintentional emission regime for electrical products. For information technology equipment, the relevant standard is AS/NZS CISPR22, CISPR 22 or EN 55022. We examine alot of international reports tested as part of the CE mark requirements. An EMC emission report for CE does not automatically mean the report is acceptable for Australia.
For Australia, the accepted power supply range is 230Vac to 240Vac, 50Hz, and testing must be performed within this range. The only justification for testing at a different voltage and mains frequency would be if the test lab has actually investigated the product using different supply voltages and mains frequencies (to cover the full rating of the universal power supply), and determined that the worst-case mains configuration is their tested voltage of 220Vac 60Hz, however there must be a clear statement in the test report stating this. This holds true for conducted and radiated emission results.
