(experienced mechanical/mechatronic engineer)

We are currently seeking a dynamic and motivated mechanical/mechatronic engineer to join our team working on vibration, shock, load, pressure, temperature, humidity, ingress protection, acoustics, solar radiation and other forms of environmental testing.

Desirable attributes for this position include:

  • Tertiary qualification (completed or in final year) in mechanical or mechatronic engineering
  • Sound understanding of basic principles of static, dynamics, mechanical vibrations and fluid mechanics
  • Previous experience in areas of instrumentation, measurements and signal processing/analysis
  • Experience in preparation of formal technical reports and other documentation

Previous experience in laboratory testing and qualification, especially in defence/aerospace industry would be very highly regarded, but not essential.

 The position involves dealing with all aspects of testing projects, from handling the initial enquiry through to design and setup of test apparatus, execution of test, analysis of results and preparation of a formal report. The successful candidate will be expected to work in close coordination with other team members, customers, government representatives and regulatory bodies, so excellent written and oral communication skills are absolutely essential for the role.

Testing activities include significant hands-on work so a successful candidate must be competent in use of basic mechanical tools and equipment. Previous experience in workshop environment and/or trade background would be highly advantageous.

The position would be casual initially, but likely to turn into full-time in the near future.  Flexible working hours could be available for the suitable candidate.

Austest Labs, Castle Hill NSW

(product safety testing engineer or technician)

We currently have a position available for Electrical or Electronics Test Technicians working in a lab environment, providing electrical product safety testing for a wide range of electrical products to relevant AS/NZS and IEC product safety standards.

Previous experience in areas such as testing or the certification industry would be very highly regarded, but not essential.

A sound knowledge of electrical principals is necessary, accompanied by either an engineering degree, a diploma/TAFE certificate or an equivalent qualification in an electrical field.

The role involves planning, preparation and execution of various electrical tests, as well as preparation of associated formal documentation (e.g. test plans, reports and certificates) and direct dealing with clients.  Solid written and oral communication skills are essential.

Testing activities include significant hands-on work so a successful candidate must be competent in use of basic tools such as scopes, multi meters and soldering irons. Training will be provided.
