Effective September 1st 2014, the Telecommunications Business Law (JATE) and the Radio Law (TELEC) in Japan has been amended as follows:

– the minimum size of the certification mark (The circle with a T inside) is reduced to 3mm regardless of the size of the device. (formerly 5mm, or 3mm for devices less than 100cc in volume.)
– if the certification label is too large for the device, it can be affixed to the support documents instead. (user’s manual Etc.)
– the certification label of a module can be affixed on the casing of the system (computer Etc.) it will be installed into.

As a consequence of these measures, the requirement for a module to remain easily removable are dropped. They now can be permanently affixed (soldered. glued Etc.) to their host.

The new label regulations do not mean labelling a product can be avoided all together.
