KC/Safety approval for lithium-ion batteries (South Korea)
As of April 01, 2016, all lithium-ion batteries must obtain the KC/Safety approval(both Cell and Pack, also the Cell should have UN DOT38.3). Until now, batteries with an energy density under 400Wh/l didn’t require KC battery approval. Approval is now mandatory for all lithium-ion batteries.
The required tests are :
- KC Cell Test: If CB test can be provided for the cell, KC test for cell can be skipped.
- UN DOT 38.3 Test for Cell: this can also be skipped if UN 38.3 test report for cell is provided(we don’t need UN 38.3 test report for the pack)
- KC Pack Test: this needs to be done in Korea
