New Australian UHF Citizen Band radio equipment standard
The ACMA seeks public comment on a draft UHF Citizen Band (CB) equipment performance standard Radiocommunications (UHF CB Radio Equipment) Standard 2010 (the proposed standard). The proposed standard is intended to replace the existing UHF CB equipment performance standard, the Radiocommunications (UHF CB Radio Equipment) Standard 2004 (the existing standard). It is intended that the existing standard will be revoked and replaced with the proposed standard on 1 January 2011. Submissions should be provided by close of busines 12 October 2010.
A copy of the draft standard is available in PDF format.
The proposed standard provides performance limits and test methods for 12.5 kHz channel operation in the UHF CB band, which will transition to 12.5 kHz channel operation over the period 1 January 2011 to 1 January 2016. It is proposed to incorporate the new standard into the Radiocommunications Devices (Compliance Labelling) Notice at the same compliance level as the existing standard (Level 3). This ensures no change to the existing labelling and documentation requirements.
