South Korean Approval Regime Update for electrical products (Telecoms, Wireless and EMC)
The South Korean agency held a meeting on Thursday the 20th of January 2011 (2 working days prior to the Jan 24 implementation date) to announce and issue implementation guidelines for the new KC regulations.

Firstly and as mentioned above, the new KC regulations are in effect from Jan 24, 2011.
Key changes:
– The Broadcasting and Telecommunication Equipment Certification system which previously consisted of the following approval routes: Type Approval, Type Verification, Type Registration and Electromagnetic Compatibility Registration has been amended to a new Conformity Evaluation System consisting of the following approval routes: Conformity Certification, Conformity Registration and Interim Certification.
– There are new marking requirements under the Conformity Evaluation Marking system. This Conformity Evaluation Mark is required to be indicated on both on the product and packaging.
– Equipment (end systems) utilizing KCC approved wireless modules, may be exempt from addt’l wireless testing. – For equipment falling under the previous scope of Type Registration (KCC Wireless approval), KCC EMC (emissions & immunity) testing will be required from July 1, 2011.
– For equipment falling under the previous scope of Type Registration (KCC Wireless approval) and EMC Registration (KCC EMC approval), KCC Safety testing will be required from Jan 1, 2012.
