Visit rcm-mark.com.au, the site for all information regarding the new Electrical Equipment Safety System
ASA (Australian Safety Approval) has created an information website for importers, manufacturers and suppliers seeking information about electrical safety and EMC certification requirements applicable in Australia and New Zealand.
The initial article seeks to explain the new EESS (Electrical Equipment Safety System) in easy to understand terms. As the EESS becomes applicable to more Australian States, updates will be published, along with any changes to products that fall into the level 1 or level 3 categories.
It’s important to remember that just because a product may not be in the highest level 3 category, it doesn’t remove the need for the product to meet the essential safety requirements of AS/NZS 3820 and any product specific standards that may apply, such as AS/NZS 60950.1:2011 for information technology equipment, lighting products to AS/NZS 60598.1 and the many 60598.2 standards or AS 61010.1 for equipment used in measurement, control & laboratory use.
